World-Wide Warp
A downloadable game for Windows
Preface
A 2D portal traversal adventure created for the Pan African Game Jam under the theme "Play Without Borders". No AI was used for ANY of the art, 90% of the art was drawn by me
The Story
In the year 3030, the world is powered by futuristic tech built from rare materials found in Africa. However, a deep divide exists between the modern technological sectors and the rural areas fighting to preserve their traditions.
A brilliant teenager from a rural village secretly begins building technology, eventually becoming a high status inventor. When his village discovers his work is turning their home into an industrial plant, they exile him for betraying his culture and draining their natural resources.
Desperate to appease his people, he invents a "de-ager" to revert the technology back into raw materials. To power it on a massive scale, he siphons energy from the World Beacon. But the energy is too volatile. The machine overloads, de-aging the entire planet.
The Earth loses mass and its gravitational pull shatters, splitting the continents into floating islands. The inventor is reduced to a toddler.
Five years later, the Warp Traversal Agency (W.T.A) is formed. Their mission is to use portal technology to travel across the broken globe, gather specific materials, and reverse the damage.
Current Jam Build
This prototype was built specifically for the jam and serves as the mechanical foundation for a much larger project. Development will 100% continue to full completion.
Due to the time constraints of the jam, the full narrative is not entirely integrated yet. Currently, only 1 of the 3 W.T.A. agents is playable. The current build features the initial training level where the agent prepares for the mission. He has not yet warped back to Africa to begin the actual material gathering, but the core mechanics are fully functional.
Theme: Play Without Borders
The shattered, floating earth literally removes traditional borders. To fix the world, the W.T.A. agents are equipped with special portal suits, allowing them to instantly cross the vast, empty spaces between the continent fragments. The core mechanic relies on breaking physical boundaries to explore new areas and complete the objective.
Controls & Mechanics
Built in Godot as a 2D experience, the gameplay focuses on smooth movement and portal usage to bypass obstacles.
- Movement: A and S or L-arrow and R-arrow
- Jump: Space bar
- Portal Activation: Hold the space bar

Vision & Future Plans
This game is targeted at fans of fast paced 2D platformers and action games who enjoy mastering movement mechanics.
Roadmap post jam:
- Clean up bugs and redo level designs
- Fully implement the remaining 2 W.T.A. agents with unique abilities.
- Build out the shattered continent levels across the globe.
- Integrate the full narrative and cultural elements of the modern vs. rural African setting.
